DEAR DIARY...

Today, after working hard for many years, I finally finished the Z3. I am really happy. This started with a dream and now it is a reality! I learnt a lot of things from my mistakes (Z1 and Z2). I wish this invention can improve our lives and it can make it better! Now people can use it to make calculations…something that making by hand I find really boring. It was not easy but I think it worth all the hard work!

INVENT, CREATE AND INNOVATE in the middle of the war…

A little bit of history…and why he created something new…
Konrad studied civil engineering in Technische Hochschule Berlin-Charlottenburg. After he graduated, He began to work at Henschel aircraft factory in Berlin. In that work, he had to do many calculations by hand…but he found it boring. He began to dream about a machine that can make his calculations.

Transforming a dream into a reality...
He had 2 attempts before his greatest achievement, the Z1 in 1938 and the Z2 in 1939. But they never worked well. The Z1 and its blueprints were destroyed during World War II. Finally he improved the Z1 and the Z2...and he created the Z3.
Learning from the mistakes…all about the Z3…
As you already know, his main invention was the Z3. The Z3 was an electromechanical computer. It was built with 2,000 relays. It was completed in Berlin, Germany in 1941. It was the world's complete computer. It stored the program code and data on a punched film. It only worked for a few minutes. It was faster than the Z1 and Z2.

The original Z3 was destroyed in 1943 during the bombing of berlin (in WWII). But there is a replica in the Deutsches Museum.
Zuse continued improving his inventions and creating new things…

BIOGRAPHY

Konrad Zuse was born on July 22nd, 1910 in Germany. He died at age of 85 in December 18th, 1995.
He was a civil engineer and computer pioneer. He is known for creating the Z4, the Plankalkül and Calculating Space (his book)...but his main invention was the Z3. It was the world's first complete computer. It became operational in May 1941.
He married Gisela Brandes in January 1945.
He recieved many awards in computer science field.

WELCOME!

The main topic of this blog is Konrad Zuse… A man that invented something in the past…that has an effect in our present and maybe in or future.
If you don’t know who he was (I use was because he is dead)…don’t worry, be happy… the purpose of this blog is to teach you who he was, what he did and why he was important.
I wish you could learn a lot of things about this “gr8 inventor”.
